How many miles can a gasoline car engine last, with 5000 mile oil changes and filter replacement?

Have seen cars go for over 400,000 miles and still going!

Quality of the engine is key, with some manufacturers its a matter of luck where as with others its a systematic thing.

The way the vehicle is used also plays a big role along with maintenance of the engine, coolant system, transmission/clutch, brakes, driving technique, loads faced by the engine, etc.How many miles can a gasoline car engine last, with 5000 mile oil changes and filter replacement?
Depends on your driving habits. 5k service is fine unless in a rough service environment. If so then 3k is best. As far as longevity, a properly serviced engine will go 200,000 plus miles. I have 190,000 on my truck so far, runs like a dream. And yes it's American made. How many miles can a gasoline car engine last, with 5000 mile oil changes and filter replacement?
should last til u turn 95...good luck
Well, that depends on the car as much as the maintenance, but I'd think you'd get at least a couple hundred thousand miles in the worst scenario.

I'd not worry much about ';severe service,'; which honestly, is rare -- certainly far more rare than the oil-change nazis would like us to think. I think 5000 miles is an outstanding compromise between the severe service and typical maintenance intervals, and 5000 miles makes it really easy to remember, without needing little sticky things on the window, so you are more likely to actually stick to it.
A good long time. the oils today are made to hold their polymers in long strands longer and the filters can keep working at least that long. There is a misconception about oil in new cars. The carbon that polluted the internals with lead etc, are not in the fuels today . filters are better, oil stays cleaner and holds its additive package longer . My 2006 Honda calls for 6 months or 5000 miles for severe service and with pure synthetic oil 1 year or 10, 000 miles as normal. go figure.
it should be able to go at least a few hundred thousand miles, today's cars last a lot longer than the older ones used to last, but with real good maintenance on it you should be able to wear it out, good luck hope this helps.
do you do city driving with alot of shut downs and start ups?

or long drives?read my manual for a car bought 2 1/2 years ago new and it said(extreme driving, 5 miles or less, every 3000 miles) if trip is over that, then every 7500 miles, the oil industry has improved the oil to where this can be done. just follow the recommondations the manufacter states.
3,000 mile oil change is a myth created by the maintenance people and dealerships to make more money. Most owners manuals say 5,000 miles - unless you live in a rough environment - extreme heat, cold, wind or sand.
IT DEPENDS ON THE WAY THAT YOU DRIVE BUT IT COULD GO FOR A VERY LONG TIME.
