Is it ok to put 2050 oil in a car that's supposed to have 2030?

My car burns oil really fast.. someone told me that 2050 would fix the problem and not run out as quick.. just wanted to check and make sure this was true.. and it wouldn't mess my car up.Is it ok to put 2050 oil in a car that's supposed to have 2030?
well there is no such thing as a 20w30 oil. And for the 20w50 it will not fix anything. It is thicker and may slow the burning but it is terrible to use in the winter. If you live where it is cold then do not use it. And it is so thick you will notice less power the engine has to work hard to pump the thick oil. Try using a high mileage oil and see if that helps the burning slow down. It has an additive package that reconditions the valve seals and helps the engine to not burn soo much oil.Is it ok to put 2050 oil in a car that's supposed to have 2030?
if your car is burning oil that much i think its a bit late to worry if it will mess it up. But not 20w50 wont make that much difference but you sure it uses 20/30 to start with ???
20w50 might help, but it depends on why it is burning oil. Depending on what the problem is, you might not notice a difference. Either way, it won't damage anything unless you start it up cold and rev it up. The thicker oil won't flow quite so fast when it's cold. Sometimes, those engine oil treatments help a little.
you use a 20w-50 in an engine that calls for (beings there is no such thing as 20w-30 I will use 10w30) 10w-30. you will prob starve the engine of oil and the oil will not circulate everywhere in the engine that its suppose to go. you might be able to use a 5w-40 or a 10w-40. its thicker and might be able to be used in place of 10w-30. what does your owners manual calls for as far as oil weights?

so best bet is to either rebuild the engine or get a new engine or get a new car. that would be a temp fix and it will get worse.
I've found that it's true. The 20W50 doesn't burn as fast. Because it is so heavy and thick it takes longer to circulate in your engine when it's cold. So best you let it warm up a bit before driving it on cold mornings.
there right about not burning as fast but if you live in a cold climate the heavier oil makes your car harder to start and takes longer to lubricate your engine in cold weather thus wearing out your parts inside the engine quicker.
