Why dont people belive me when i say you can run a diesel car on veggie oil?

only older ones with a fuel pump not common rails. if you think of doing it check with mechanic first. you will save a fortune on fuelWhy dont people belive me when i say you can run a diesel car on veggie oil?
I believe you, as I do run my Pajero on a 70/30 mix of veggie and diesel. And by the way you are OK to use up to 2500 litres per year tax free however if you go over this amount you will have to pay tax on the whole lot so keep records of your useage. Why dont people belive me when i say you can run a diesel car on veggie oil?
';Of course you can';, well my pal used to run his Peagut 1.9 diesel on it no problem....
You might get away with it on some, but there's too much glycerine in vegetable oil to work properly. It has to be removed if you want a proper job.
mythbusters tested it, its comfirmed and possible
It was on top gear a while back so it can be done.
Let's beleave! The first diesels were run on Vegitable oil. And almost any can run on filtered and heated veggie oil.
Perhaps you need to explain that it does need some additives - but a lot of people don't realise that they are chemically very similar.

p.s. as soon as you put vegetable oil in your tank you are supposed to write a cheque to Mr. G. Brown c/o 10 Downing Street to pay the fuel duty!
I saw it on Mythbusters.. but they used previously used cooking oil, like grease from french fries at restaurants.
you can run it on veggie oil but it's illegal if you don't declare it to the government and pay the tax on it as vegetable oil is VAT free at supermarkets etc. as it is intended for personal use while cooking food not running a car.
Depends on who you refer to as this ';people'; - the Mongolians? Despite the fact that Mongolians hardly own motorised vehicles, they turned out to become some of the most advance people away from Mongolia! So that's the reason I asked, who you meant by ';people';...
You also need a heat wrap on the fuel line and possibly higher fuel pressure.

There is one near us, it smells like a chip shop !

Long term its not a solution because of the land needed to grow the crops.

And of course, its only cheap while its not popular. Once many people sign up for it, the suppleirs will stuff people with the price of veg oil
people are brainwashed by our governments and oil companies into thinking that it will have adverse effects on the engine

truth is if you use a good mixture of oils you'll have no real problems always good to keep some forcourt diesel in the tank as it wil thin down the other oils so as not to clog the injectors

newer disel engines are not so good for running on veg oil
Its all true, I will back you up on that. Also the governments are trying to produce bio-diesel which comes from rape seed oil.But to do it succesfully you need a good old engine, there are some bin wagons in the southern councils using collected and refined vegetable oil to run the towns wagons and it has reduced costs, pollution and council tax
I believe. I've seen it done.
people are stupid thats why - I can say for sure it works!!
My Dad has been doing it for years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
