Recently my engine oil pressure light came on in my car. My car only has 11000 miles. Is this serious?

I just bought car almost 2 months ago. Not sure if this is just a maintenance warning or actual problem. I don't hear any knocking noises coming from engine. I got an oil change, but warning still appears when I start car. What should I do?Recently my engine oil pressure light came on in my car. My car only has 11000 miles. Is this serious?
If you bought the car Brand New from a dealer, don't waste anytime and take it back asap. If you bought it used and they sold you a warranty, use it. If you do not have a warranty take it to an auto shop to get it diagnosed. I highly doubt it should be anything serious, it's probably just the oil pressure switch, but you never know so have it looked at.

*** Is it an ';oil change reminder'; lamp or is it the ';oil pressure'; lamp?Recently my engine oil pressure light came on in my car. My car only has 11000 miles. Is this serious?
if it is just your ';change oil'; reminder the tech probably just forgot to reset it...however if it is your oil pressure light (the little red oil can on the dashboard) it could be a very serious problem!...get it looked at. a mechanic can check the actual oil pressure of your engine and if it is good the problem may be your oil pressure sending unit...don't take chances here, get it to a mechanic.
I'm not sure of what's going on here....but first of all the ';oil'; light should come on when you turn on the key....then go off when the engine starts. At very low rpm some oil lights can blink on and off, most often on older engines. Since yours is practically new I'd worry if it came on when driving down the road. It could be a faulty engine oil pressure sensor but personally I'd get it to a shop and let them attach an oil pressure gauge to it to verify the problem.
well if you got an oil change already and the warning light is still on that may be a problem. The fact that your engine isn't sputtering is a good thing though. You should take your car to a mechanic and see what they tell you. But this doesn't sound like something that needs immediate attention. Be careful though, note the condition of your car before you take it in and shop around for the best price. Some mechanics will try and screw you over if you don't know what your doing (which from this question, seems to be the case).
Whomever changed your oil probably forgot to reset the oil light. It is a good idea to take the car in for it to be double checked and the light reset.
Get an Auto Electrician to check the light. They can often malfunction and stay on. If that's not the problem, a mechanic will have to inspect the car for you.
If you have no oil pressure, don't drive, you need a tow truck.
