What does it mean when the oil from your car is leaking?

Some engine oil leakage is quite acceptable and no maintenance or repair is required. However if it's leaking too fast or leaking into areas that oil shouldn't be (like on the timing belt etc), then your forced to fix the oil leak. Watch out for repair shops who may claim you need to fix an oil leak with a major repair that doesn't really need any repair at all.

It could be front or rear seals, a bad cam cover or valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, loose or stripped oil pan plug, leaky oil pan gasket or a hole in the oil pan itself. And those are just a few of the places that oil could escape from the engine.

Then there are the power steering system, transmission or trans axle that could also leak an oil-like substance. What does it mean when the oil from your car is leaking?
You have to check the oil and replace what is leaking out so you don't damage your engne. Then find out where the leak is and look in the repair manual or on line to find out how to repair it. If you can't do it yourself, take it to a good repair shop.
Depends where it is leaking from.
It means there is a leak.

Could you be more specific?
