oil on your pistons well that means ur Rings are going bad and you need top end re done it is not really worth doing on a saturn i would sugest selling quickly and buying new carWhat kind of work will need to be done to my car, i recently found oil on the tops of the pistons?
If there is oil on top of your pistons then you need to replace the rings on your pistons that keep the oil below them,so in other words a total rebuild is in order,or start pricing a rebuilt or reconditioned engine which can be found through most auto parts stores realitvly cheap.

There are several ways to get oil on the top of your pistons. Bad rings is one way and bad valve seals are another. What you need to do is properly test the engine compression with a wet/dry compression test to see where the leakage is occurring. Piston rings is a major overhaul requiring a lot of down time and expense. Valve seals can be done in one day for a few hundred dollars.

I agree, how did you ';see'; the oil on the pistons to begin with? Did you take the engine apart or look through the spark plug hole? Or are you saying you see oil on top of the engine by the piston alley? If it's the later case, your 93 SC2 has DOHC and your cam cover seals may be broken and spilling oil.
do you have the dual over head engine or the single .. is the car still runing? if so you may not have a lot of oil on the pistons. some oil on the piston top may indicate a leaky valve seal, you did not indicate if one or all the cylinders have oil in them. a lot of oil on the pistons means major work. with a saturn, get a new car
