What kind of oil should I put in my car?

I checked my oil for the first time today and it looks like the I need to add more oil. I have a 2008 honda civic si coupe. What kind of oil to add in? and where can I buy? What kind of oil should I put in my car?
Check the owner's manual. in the back or on the back cover you should find that info as well as possibly on the oil filler cap itself.

It is 5W20. Do NOT use anything above 20 weight.

You may use 0W20 if you wish but nothing else is approved.

id look in the manual for the right viscosity index but it should take 0-20 or 5-20 dont bother with anything thicker than it says to use unless its worn quite a bit. make sure to change it when it gets enough miles on it and use quality oil if you want it to last. you can mix synthetic with regular it wont hurt it a bit. id shop around department stores to get the best price on any given brand as auto part stores can be pricey. i recommend valvoline if your on a budget or mobil one synthetic if not.
Best thing to do is just change your oil and you 10w40, the standard, You can use a more expensive synthetic oil, but if you don't know, you need to change it and put totally new oil in so you do not mix them.

Then, stick to the same number.
You guys are scaring me...all the new Honda's that i have served has taken 5W/20. There are one or two out there that require 0w..

Look in your owners manuel, and for a sticker in your engine compartment. I believe you will find your new engine requires a 5w20.

This is due to the tight bearing clearances...I know TMI
5w 30 if it is cold where you live now.

And that is extremely odd that you need to add oil to 2008 civic. I had an '85 accord that i never had to add oil to between oil changes.
5W/20 probably. But check after car has been shut down for awhile. Like I never check mine until the morning. 2. store.
5w30
There should be a sticker under the hood saying what oil is recommended. if not then any good quality 10w-30 will be fine.
1. Look on your oil cap or read your manual

2. Any auto parts store
Depends on how you want your car to function. I would suggest motor oil brand for van.
5w30
use 5w30 oil, and you can buy it at pepboys or autozone.
