What happens when the i fill my car engine with oil above the max. mark (above by 5 mm)?

5 mm over the full mark most likely won't hurt anything...on my car that would be about four ounces of oil. HOWEVER...pay attention to your car when you're driving it for a few days, especially for a knocking/tapping sound from the engine, of smoke coming from the tailpipe. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, stop the engine as soon as possible and drain a little oil out of the crankcase just to be on the safe side.

The danger of adding too much oil is that if the rotating engine parts are able to dip below the surface of the oil supply, the oil can be whipped up into a froth...the extra air in the oil increases its volume, and it ends up getting pulled into the cylinders and burned off. Also, foamy oil doesn't lubricate the moving parts as well. What happens when the i fill my car engine with oil above the max. mark (above by 5 mm)?
it has the mark for a reason do you think the engine manufacturers just put the mark where they think it should go..

but 5 mm can be allot in some cars and no big deal in others

the excess oil can cause big problems in some diesels

i doubt it will cause any major problemsWhat happens when the i fill my car engine with oil above the max. mark (above by 5 mm)?
It must be reading very close to the full mark after the car has been parked overnight so that all the oil drains into the crank case. Therefore, there's no problem, but read about what a 1 quart overfill might do to an engine below.

while everyone says nothing happens, I didn't notice anyone signing their name as engineer or whatever. Beware of high oil in your engine. You have the chance of pushing out seals.
nothing happens. A little aboove the line is notheing to concern yourself about.
