When should trasmission oil in a car be changed?

2001 Pontaic Grand Prix GT over 118,000 miles. When should trasmission oil in a car be changed?
Transmission fluid is not pink, its red, A LIGHT RED, if its a dark red, well the fluid is pretty much worn out. It should be done around 60 to 75 thousand miles, some manufacturers may be different though on different cars, or I'd say every two years, once a year is a little too much if its not driven much, and of course trans fluid never sees combustion byproducts, which is why it lasts longer. I would have it professionally flushed, wouldn't have jiffy lube to do it though, and have a pan dropped and the trans filter changed. Use either dexron/mercon III, or dexron/mercon III with the ';h'; spec, or dexron IVWhen should trasmission oil in a car be changed?
If you haven't done it already, now would be a good time. Every 50,000 miles as a rule.
i do it now if it not been done.
Besides the 500,000 miles as mentioned, if your trans oil isn't pink anymore, you know it needs a change.
there is no transmission oil its fluid.and u should probably change it 1 time a year.
The trans fluid should have been changed at about 65K. Recommend taking it to a Trans shop or the dealer for a fluid changed and FLUSH.
