I overfilled my car w/ oil - it's smoking like a rock concert?

after changing the oil and putting in the correct amount, it still is putting out a considerable amount of white smoke. temperature gauge says its not too hot, but im worried ive messed something up. any guesses?I overfilled my car w/ oil - it's smoking like a rock concert?
There is probably oil in parts of the intake system that is working its way through. I doubt there is any lasting damage. The one precaution I would recommend is to remove the PCV valve and the hose that connects that to the intake plenum or manifold, and to wash those (hose and valve) out with carburetor cleaner. Once those are clear the oil should burn itself off in an hour or so.

The one part that could be affected by the excess of oil is the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. It has a tiny platinum wire that has to be clean to properly measure the amount of air coming into the engine. If the check engine light comes on that may need to be cleaned or - in the worst case - replaced. But if the light isn't on now you are probably okay.I overfilled my car w/ oil - it's smoking like a rock concert?
So, by what you have written , you overfilled it, then drained it again and put in the correct amount and it still smokes? The worst that can happen is that it might collect some crud on the oxygen sensors and spark plugs. This should how ever burn off in time. Take it for a long drive and the remaining oil should burn off. Your coolant tempreture actually will not be affected by this.
It's probably a fluke that it was over full and smoking but if your car is overheating I would check the water level and also the thermostat.

DO NOT drive it if it says it is overheating!!

The white smoke could be a blown head gasket.

See where the smoke is coming from and then you can diagnose the problem more accurately.
you probably spilled some when you were filling it so now it's burning off when you have the engine on. Try using a rag to dry up any areas around opening that may have gotten oil. if you can afford it, have the engine cleaned (washed) at a car wash.
Where is the smoke coming from? You probably just got it on a hot part, let it burn off. Also drive it on the freeway, that will help it cool off and put the heater on when you do it.
you need to buy a sweeper they are in b%26amp;q or alfords or you can go to the garrige and have it done the sweeper cost 120$ THE GARRIGE TO DO IT IS 140$
When my car was blowing out white smoke it meant the coolant had mixed with the oil.
White smoke?

Did someone put diesel in it by accident (gas tank)?
Awesome analogy. XD
My guess is that there is still some residual oil in there. How long have you run it after refilling the oil?
