I added oil to my car because it was low. Now that I meassured it again is above the max mark. Now what?

get something to catch the oil and open the drain plug, if the oil is clean and has recently been changed just let out some and not all, if the oil is in bad shape drain it all and replace the filter look in the owners manual to find how much oil the car needs





having slightly too much oil isn't a big deal, if there is way too much oil don't drive the car until you let some out
well not saying this is what you did but im just assuming you didn't let the car sit long enough before you looked at the dipstick, not sure how long it would take for all the oil to drain in the oil pan but i usually wait until my truck sits for about an hour or 2, you have to let all the oil drain into the oil pan, im just assuming you didn't wait so it looked low but really wasn't
Use your best judgment. If it is only a little bit above, don't sweat it. If it is a lot above, then drain some from your drian plug, or loosen the oil filter and let some out. Having WAY too much IS dangerous and can cause engine damage. Good luck!!
how much did you put in it? if its just a little bit above it, it will be ok if its alot above it you will have to drain some out. FYI badly overfilled will ruin your engine
